Local Development Academy (1999-2005) was a project aimed at sharing Poland's local community development experience with our Ukrainian partners. The Project has already contributed some lasting effects, such as:
- exchange as the ability to learn and establish partnerships
- combining practical skills and basic theoretical knowledge into a coherent unit
- offering a scope of development-oriented knowledge, which enables the use of the best available literature.

These values , which are derived from the adopted methods, deserve continuation. Therefore, a proposal to institutionalise the Academy in Ukraine has been put forward to our partners.

The materials presented here provide a structured overview of our achievements. Methodology, results and our training materials are described.
Our contacts with CIEDEL , a French local development school (Centre International d'Etudes pour le Developpement Local), had a strong influence on the ARL's teaching philosophy and actual curriculum.
